Creating a single scarf is a time-consuming, multi-step process taking from 4 to 8 hours per scarf. The process varies depending on the techniques used. All scarves must be worked individually; although there are some parts of the process such as the inititial dye bath or discharge (color removal) bath which can be done with several scarves simultaneously, thus cutting down on the total time required to complete a given piece.
